SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP
We had a full field of players for the Singles Championship. It was particularly good to see so many of our newer members competing and doing extremely well. Gary and Eric gave us an excitng final. It was 12 all when Eric shot Gary’s winning boule and unfortunately took the cochonet out of bounds with his last boule. The rule for this is if you have no boules in hand and your opponent is still holding boules, they score points for each boule. Gary had boules in hand and accepted his trophy from Tournament Director Jenny Webb, who once again with the help of Graeme, Jenni M and Marilyn ran an excellent competition. Congratulations to both finalists and all players.
CHRISTMAS FUNCTION
The Christmas function, held at the Derwent Sailing Club, was well attended. Thanks again to Cecelia, who provided a Christmas Quiz that tested us all. No groups got a perfect score. The closest in the Christmas Carol Quiz was a group led by Lil, which missed out on a perfect score by one point from as they decided there were three days of Christmas, as opposed to 12. The raffle was won by Judy W who claimed embarrassment, but it was noted that she was not embarrassed enough to offer a redraw.
EVENTS 2021
Monday, 4th January
Our first official day of play for 2021 is Monday, 4th January. We will welcome the New Year with a monthly melee.
Sunday, 31st January - Doubles Club Championship.
Teams can be mixed or single sex for this event.
